Gautam’s Profile
Academic:
Like most musically gifted persons, Gautam also had a good balance of academic and artistic inclinations. While he learned music and developed his gifted voice, he also studied hard and got his Masters Degree in Commerce (Specialization in Business Management) and also a Masters Degree in Communication Studies (Specialization in Television Production). After completing his studies he worked in Media industry with Sony Entertainment Television (Mumbai) and Jyoti Ltd. (Vadodara). However he soon realized that his real call was in Music and thus he left the promising career to start his own enterprise ‘Aarohi’.
In past five years, he not only has developed the music academy to a great extent but also has worked widely for event management as well as music arrangement. Besides this he is also associated with the Faculty of Journalism and Communication (M.S University of Baroda) as a visiting lecturer where he teaches Media Management and Radio Production.
Music and Life:
Like his brilliant academic life, Gautam also had a very wonderful journey of emerging as an artist and teacher. Gautam inherited music from his mother Late Mrs. Shashi Dabir and his grandmother Smt. Mangala Joshi, who hails from Gwalior Gharana. As a child he never got to attend proper music learning sessions. However, every day and every activity revolved around music, thus despite the absence of formal training, Gautam learned all the nuances of music and singing. He has been singing since the age of 3 and he is also a skilled player in instruments like tabla, harmonium and keyboard.
What makes Gautam a complete musician is the fact that he combines the intricacies of classical music with other lighter forms like ghazals, bhajans and film songs. With constant guidance from his mother and grandmother, Gautam found his grip on every element of music be it sur, taal, expression or pronunciation and this was coupled with intense voice culturing and speech culturing which took place under the guidance of Shri Hemant Kothari (Agra gharana) who polished his singing and enabled him to become a versatile and complete performer.
The Spiritual Journey:
Another dimension which had a great impact on Gautam’s life and aspirations is the appearance of his spiritual master Sri Sri Ravishankar ji. The potential of music in uplifting a person’s consciousness is very vast and deep but it can only be harnessed when it is coupled with true values and right aspirations and a constant dedication to personal evolution. The love, wisdom and blessings that he received from his master helped Gautam to realize and enhance his capabilities both as an artist and as a human being. His spiritual inclination has given a new dimension to his music and its benefits are seen and felt by all his students, colleagues and his client’s as well.
Today Gautam’s Mission is to spread the light of music both as a way of celebration and joy and as a way of connecting with one’s own self. All he aspires to do is to bring a positive change in people’s lives trough music. He says, “Music is not only about sound and mathematics it is the path that can lead to eternal bliss...” and that is what drives this young musician to keep striving and keep discovering the wonderful world of music.
